About #UnderSiege…

Proud to be on Team Blue

Since John doesn’t seem to write about Raw on the site anymore, I just want take a minute say Raw sucks and it deserved every bit of the ass kicking it got on Monday. Until viral infections caused them to change things up, TLC was set to be the worst pay-per-view of the year two weeks after Hell in a Cell was one of the best. They’ve ruined characters I’ve loved and refusd to learn from their mistakes. The SmackDown roster set aside their differences temporarily to give those idiots a beating, and tonight’s SmackDown did a great job establishing that they still have all their feuds intact despite this showcase of unity.

The best of this was the crowd showing brand loyalty last night, cheering for SmackDown and booing mentions of Raw. I’m proud to be on Team Blue, and look forward to the continued build toward Survivor Series. I’m sure Raw will never retaliate for the attack on Monday, because they sure didn’t this week.

About Fashion Dogs…

I’m so happy The Ascension exist

The friendship between Breezango and The Ascension continued to grow this week as they played a larger part on Fashion Dogs, a parody of Reservoir Dogs. In the women’s segment earlier Carmella pointed out she was missing James Ellsworth, only for us to find out that he had been kidnapped for interrogation during this segment since they’re missing a briefcase and Ellsworth tends to be around the Money in the Bank briefcase. Carmella saves him, but not before the briefcase is opened to reveal Ellsworth’s underwear was inside The Ascension

This was a super silly segment. The Ascension again stole the show with them having a gas can that they were drinking from because “Wasteland stuff”. They also were finally able to convince Breezango that 2B are the Bludgeon Brothers, even if Tyler Breeze thinks the “B” in “Brothers” is silent. Next week they’re doing a Stranger Things parody with the new season of the show coming out, so hopefully that’ll continue the trend of these being great.

About Baron Corbin Being Bad at Not Losing…

Punch forever

Baron Corbin, the United States Champion, lost by countout last week TO SIN CARA. So what does he do the following week? He faces off against Sin Cara AND LOSES AGAIN. This time, it was by disqualification because he wouldn’t stop punching him in the face. I get it, but he still lost and it’s a really bad look for Corbin and the championship. I hope this is only happening because Survivor Series is coming up and he needs something to do in the meantime since he can’t fight The Miz. But man, this is still not great. Maybe Sin Cara can get the belt and fight The Miz instead, in what would be a pretty hilarious match. But then Corbin would likely end up in the elimination match. It’s quite a conundrum.

About 2 Out of 3 Falls…

When you realize this is leading to another match

There was some criticism going around after Monday about Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode both being in the group that invaded Raw. It was quickly addressed on SmackDown as they mentioned how that didn’t mean they’re friends and their feud is far from done (oh joy). Fortunately, they seem to have set up a 2 out of 3 Falls Match to culminate this series and hopefully let Bobby Roode move on to his heel run. The shine of “Glorious” being a new thing has worn off, and we should move away from riding that wave to start telling interesting stories with Roode. He could easily become what The Miz is on Raw, a pompous asshole who you love to hate.

About Team Sami & Kevin…

This heel turn is the best thing to happen to Sami Zayn

With the return of Shane McMahon this week to kick off the Survivor Series storyline, we had to address what happened with Sami Zayn turning heel to save Kevin Owens at Hell in a Cell. The episodes open just that, as a delightfully heel Zayn skanks and then says that he and Owens will agree to put aside their differences with Shane and represent SmackDown in the elimination match. Shane isn’t so easy to forgive, as he says he doesn’t need or want them, but will still give them an opportunity to earn spots on the team. Sami fights Randy Orton tonight, Kevin Owens fights Shinsuke Nakamura next week. Despite Owens trying to help Sami get a distraction win, it backfires as Orton hits a low blow during it followed by an RKO for the win. Now the pressure is on for Owens to win next week so at least one of them is in the match.

I thought this was a really good way of addressing this, as Shane has no reason to be nice to these two after what they did to him, but retain he’s a face that believes in “The Land of Opportunity”. I have a feeling that even if they both lose these qualifiers, they’ll find a way to get themselves into the match. There’s no way two of the biggest names on the brand are absent from Survivor Series.
